Special Announcement

The Fire Department wanted to give you good news on several equipment items that are now in service here in Mount Vernon. The first item is a culmination of a true community effort. Using money appropriated at town meetings, a Mount Vernon Fire Company donation, along with a group purchase buy down we were able to purchase a new Bullard Thermal Imager. These units normally cost $15,000 but by joining in on the group purchase the cost was $11,500. This is now in service taking the place of the original unit that was no longer working. The next two items that are in service were received through a grant from FEMA administered through Kennebec County Emergency Management Agency. One of the Fire Departments AEDs was taken out of service earlier this year KEMA was able to grant us a new AED through this program. The next grant item is an inflatable light tower that is capable of 1000 watt output, and is quick and easy to deploy at emergency incidents. At the time of delivery a KEMA representative trained the department on its use and it was then placed in service. This grant is a given at no cost to the town and the two items are valued at approximately $3,900. Thank you for your continued support!
