Photo history of building progress
The office/bathroom part of Station 1 was well beyond repair. In 2002 Mt. Vernon voted $40,000 for the Fire Department to replace that section with a much larger one.

The firefighters raised funds and also volunteered their labor and skills for most of the construction. Many area contractors, suppliers and friends contributed with generous donations of time and materials.

The value of the construction will be much greater then the $40,000 of taxpayers' money!
