| In May of 2005 renovation was started on the upstairs of the Mt. Vernon Fire Station that was once the village schoolhouse. On the boards of the old post and beam building, the firefighters discovered names of previous students. In early years of the school, only the first floor of the building was used. We believe that was when the students wrote their names! Some of the town's people remember the names on wall. |
