In early 1922 Mt. Vernon Country Store was known as Cram's General Store. The store was in the same location, but the building was different. To the south of the store there was another general store, a blacksmith shop and a garage. Mount Vernon was a busy little village!

A fire destroyed all four of these buildings in August of 1922.

That fire in August 1922 changed the look of Main Street!

Both general stores were rebuilt soon after the 1922 fire.

Some time after the late 1940's Cram's General Store changed hands several times and went by different names. Allen's General Store was torn down.

Lew Flewelling owned and operated the store as "Lew's Country Store" from the mid 1960's to the late 1970's. Lew added an addition for a new walk-in cooler. Soon after Lew sold, Bob and Leslie Grenier bought the store and changed its name to "Mt. Vernon Country Store". They continue to operate the store today.
